Charnissa Holliday-Scott
|
Charnissa Holliday-Scott practices in the areas of education law, labor and employment law, insurance defense and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Charnissa practiced civil litigation and education law. Charnissa provides general advice and counsel to public school district clients concerning a variety of areas, including personnel matters, contract negotiations, student/parent issues, board policy and liability, compliance issues, special education and general liability issues. Charnissa also advises school districts on employment matters such as personnel management, termination, and discrimination claims.
Charnissa was named a SuperLawyers Rising Star in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She has presented in CLE seminars for KCMBA, UMKC, and the Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy. She was a member of the Missouri Bar Leadership Academy Class and served as a Consultant to Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission regarding IDEA Claims. Currently, Ms. Holliday-Scott serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Foundation, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation, and as a member of the Kansas City Health Commission Education Committee. Previously she served on the Board of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers.
Prior to going to law school, Charnissa spent over ten years working in education. As part of her experience, she has served as an Interim Exceptional Education Director, an Exceptional Education Compliance Officer and an Exceptional Education Coordinator.
